The recent All To The Wall gathering hosted by Bound4LIFE was revelatory. Something became increasingly clear as we gathered in New Orleans: the issue of the abortion pill has entered a significant new phase.
For far too long, this has been a discouraging topic. But the pro-life movement has an opportunity right now to advance the cause of LIFE, protect vulnerable women and children, and confront what has been allowed to grow largely unchecked. We cannot fail to press forward.
After Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022 and returned the abortion issue to the states, many who had stood with the pro-life movement for years disengaged from important LIFE matters. Most people are completely unaware that something insidious was set in motion in the days before Roe ended—and they remain oblivious to the new reality our nation now faces.
Medication abortion—primarily the abortion pill mifepristone—has quietly grown in proliferation and access as surgical abortion has declined. Medication abortion was recently estimated to make up 63% of abortions in the formal healthcare system nationwide, but that number is undoubtedly much higher due to sketchy reporting requirements. Even in states that banned or restricted abortion after Roe, the abortion pill continues to grow through unrestrained access through the mail.
Lenient and relaxed access to the abortion pill—often with no involvement of medical professionals—has fueled its meteoric rise in the culture.
This evil pill of death has enjoyed an almost unchallenged status in American society—until NOW.
EXPOSURE
In April 2025, a shocking report emerged that challenged the prevailing claims about the safety of the abortion pill. Drawing from insurance claims data from 2017–2023, a tragic storyline began to unfold. The analysis from the Ethics and Public Policy Center revealed a completely different picture from the one repeated ad nauseam since the abortion pill was first approved by the FDA on September 28, 2000.
THE LIE: “The abortion pill is safer than Tylenol and Viagra.”
Manufacturers of the abortion pill reported a serious adverse-event rate of less than 0.5% in clinical trials—a figure that has been continually cited even as a rightly skeptical pro-life movement questioned its accuracy.
But the new analysis of real-world insurance claims reported that 10.93% of women experienced sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or other serious adverse events following a mifepristone abortion. In some cases, women have died. That rate is at least 22 times higher than what appears on the drug label.
I think you would agree that no drug with that high of a percentage should be on the market, much less available for anyone to order through the mail and self-administer.
And this report did not emerge in isolation.
States have begun bringing legal challenges involving the abortion pill, with as many as 12 cases moving through the courts. The issue has also risen to the level of congressional investigation and committee hearings. President Trump became aware of the situation and directed HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to investigate these dangers.
The FDA is now re-examining the abortion pill, and we await its findings. A status update on that investigation has been ordered by the courts by October 7.
I believe God is presenting us with an opportunity to deal with the abortion pill and end the bloodshed.
Multiple fronts are moving at the same time—through the courts, the federal government, the FDA, and the growing public discussion about the dangers of mifepristone. But we cannot simply sit back and wait to see what happens.
We must take these matters up in prayer and intercession and contend for breakthrough.
I will be writing more in the coming days to share what God is showing us concerning the abortion pill. In the meantime, will you join us in prayer and help move these matters forward spiritually?
PRAYER POINTS
Pray for Louisiana v. FDA. Pray for Louisiana’s arguments to prevail in the case and through every stage of the appeals process.
Pray for the Trump administration to have courage and take bold action against the abortion pill.
Pray for HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to have wisdom concerning the abortion pill. Pray also for him to have a God-encounter that gives him a pro-life conviction.
Pray for Dr. Heidi Overton, President Trump’s nominee to serve as FDA Commissioner. She is reportedly pro-life. Pray for her confirmation and for decisive leadership concerning the abortion pill.
Pray for U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche. During his confirmation hearing, he made strong statements about exploring ways to restrict the abortion pill. Pray for wisdom and courage as the Department of Justice considers these issues.
Pray for the voices of women who have been hurt by the abortion pill to be elevated in the public discussion. Pray that their testimonies will be heard—especially by women considering abortion.
Take a stand in the spirit and begin to contend for the abortion pill’s days to come to an end.
