Special and Important Personal Announcement from Lou Engle
May 1, 2007
Dear Friends,
For all of you who have supported, prayed for, and shown love to me, my family, and the ministry over the years, I want to rejoice with you that partial-birth abortion is no more. God has moved on behalf of the saints and the Supreme Court has banned one of the most barbaric injustices of history. Praise God for His mighty deeds! May future generations look back on this hour of our nation’s history and be inspired that history truly does belong to the intercessors. I believe that we are now seeing the fruit of the countless hours of prayer that many have lifted up on behalf of this nation.
I wanted to write this letter to all of you to update you on the The Cause and the significant transition that is now taking place.
In the past three years, through The Cause, we have planted four Justice Houses of Prayer in DC, Boston, San Francisco, and San Diego. These JHOPs have been contending in prayer in these key ideological centers for spiritual and ideological breakthrough. Furthermore, together with your support, Bound4LIFE, birthed in 2004, has increasingly become a voice for the unborn shattering old paradigms of thinking regarding abortion and stirring an underground prayer movement that I believe will shift the courts for pro-life rulings and stir the youth of this nation toward a biblical, pro-life worldview.
As you may already know, the Lord has recently been stirring me to resurrect ‘The Call’ solemn assemblies and take these massive prayer gatherings around the nation. I believe I am at one of those defining moments in my life in which I must lay down the leadership of ministries that are precious to my heart for the sake of laying hold of the “Now” calling of God on my life. Thus, under the strong guidance of the Lord and the counsel of both the board of The Cause and the board of The Call, I have decided to resign from leadership of The Cause as well as from leadership of Bound4LIFE to give myself to mobilize the nation to prayer and fasting through JHOP and The Call.
Chuck Mervin, a dear friend of mine, who has helped me for the past few years to mobilize these movements, will take leadership of The Cause, including the missions base and newly-established house of prayer in Fort Mill, South Carolina. From there he plans to mobilize a preaching and prayer ministry of young adults across the nation that I believe could be instrumental in sparking revival fires in the nation. I am excited about Chuck’s leadership of The Cause and I see his new ministry as a multiplication of my heart’s vision for a new student missions movement.
Matt Lockett, another dear friend and a spiritual son, will take on the leadership of Bound4LIFE. And while I will no longer lead Bound4LIFE either, I will work very closely with Matt to see this ministry grow for the sake of ending abortion, releasing a heart of adoption, and healing our nation.
Despite the laying down of my leadership of The Cause and Bound4LIFE, I want to make it clear that I will not be laying down the leadership of the Justice House of Prayer movement or The Call. Years ago, the Lord spoke clearly to me that “wherever The Call goes, I will establish My House of Prayer.” Thus, I will continue to lead these houses of prayer in key ideological centers around the nation.
I will continue to reside in Fort Mill at this time, but I want to make it clear that I will not be leading The Cause or Bound4LIFE, which are also headquartered in Fort Mill, SC. However, if you would like to prayerfully and financially support the vision of The Cause led by Chuck Mervin, please visit www.thecauseusa.com. If you would like to support Bound4LIFE led by Matt Lockett, please visit www.bound4life.com. Also, if you would like to support the JHOP movement, which is under my leadership, please visit www.jhop.org. And if you would like to support the vision of The Call, which is also be under my leadership, please visit www.thecall.com.
Again, thank you for joining with Chuck, Matt, and I over the years to see this nation awakened. Even after thirty years, my dream for America is still the same–that a nation can turn back to God, that a Great Awakening would visit this generation, that abortion would become unthinkable, and that history will be shaped because people prayed.
Consumed with the Call,
Lou Engle
